SUMMER CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

 Pre-K: These classes will be 90 minutes long and will incorporate a multi-sensory approach to learning. Students will learn by using hands-on materials, art, and play to reinforce learning in the following areas ♦ Fine and Gross Motor ♦ Sensory Play ♦ Color and Shape recognition ♦ Prewriting ♦ Story Elements and Comprehension ♦ Social Emotional Growth ♦ Preschool Routines ♦ Letter Phonemic Awareness ♦ Number foundations
Note: all students must be potty trained.

KINDERGARTEN READINESS: These classes will be 120 minutes long and will incorporate a multi-sensory approach to learning. Students will learn by using hands-on materials, art, and play to reinforce all of the skills they should have mastered in preschool. This class must be registered by week and each week consists of 2 days (Tuesday and Thursday). We are running this class for 7 weeks throughout the summer. You can register for as many weeks as you can attend.

Time: 9:45-11:45am

Cost: $140 per week

FIRST GRADE READING/WRITING: This class is designed for students who have completed first grade or first-grade equivalent work. Students will meet once per week for 90 minutes and focus solely on reading and writing through a variety of activities!

Wednesdays 10-11:30

Cost: $50/class (Must register for a minimum of 4 classes)

GET READY FOR...1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade: These classes will be held once per week and will be 90 min long. Students will review skills they should have mastered in their current grade. We will work on a variety of reading, writing, and math in a fun, camp-style way! We incorporate lots of games to make learning fun!

Get Ready for 1st Grade: Mondays 1:00-2:30

Get Ready for 2nd Grade: Mondays  9-10:30

Get Ready for 3rd Grade: Tuesdays 9-10:30

Get Ready for 4th Grade: Mondays 10:45-12:15

Get Ready for 5th Grade: Tuesdays 10:45-12:15

2nd/3rd Grade MATH ONLY: This class will focus on reviewing skills in a dynamic way to keep interest high and skills fresh!

Mondays 4:00-5:00

4th/5th Grade MATH ONLY: This class will focus on reviewing skills in a dynamic way to keep interest high and skills fresh!

Mondays 5:15-6:15

MULTIPLICATION GAME WORKSHOP: This class will be held once per week for 60 minutes. We will use a variety of games to help reinforce their fact fluency! There may be game buzzers, Bingo, relay races, card games and more!

Mondays 6:30-7:30

Cost: $50/class (Must register for a minimum of 4 classes)

THE WHOLE CHILD: This 60 minute multi-sensory course is designed to strengthen the connections between both sides of the brain to facilitate success. We will refine their letter formation skills and look at things like letter spacing, sizing, and alignment in fun and exciting ways.  This is not just writing for an hour - BORING! We will also back it up and look at foundational skills that will improve everyone's writing such as arm and hand strength, bilateral coordination, and motor processing and how that impacts each kids writing. We use the Handwriting Without Tears program as the foundation of our teaching, then use additional activities as necessary to reinforce these skills.

Summer Session: July 11, 18, 25, & Aug 1

BOOK CLUBS: This will be offered in 2 different age groups students who have finished 2nd/3rd grades and students who have finished 4th/5th grades. These groups will meet once per week to discuss the book and complete a variety of fun activities that tie in with the book. These are great opportunities for students to enhance their vocabularies and think about books through other perspectives.

ORTON-GILLINGHAM READING APPROACH: We offer private and semi-private sessions. This class is designed for any student who is struggling in reading. This is a multi-sensory, explicit, and systematic approach to teaching reading. A 45 minute evaluation needs to be scheduled prior to scheduling these classes. Please contact us to schedule the evaluation. Please note that semi-privates are only available if there is another student working at the same level. This ensures that we maximize each student's time to the fullest.

MIDDLE SCHOOL WRITING WORKSHOP: This class meets weekly for 60 minutes to work on all of the elements of writing. We use a variety of sources like wordless comics, wordless picture books, self-made books, and more to peak interest and creativity while fine tuning grammar, mechanics, handwriting and spelling.
