PreK Classes are Expanding!

Thursday, February 3, 2022 by Tricia Hexter | Uncategorized

HAPPY SNOW DAY! I hope you are all enjoying the days off! We have been busy over at GPI4L as construction is still underway in the back building and we prepare to add more classes. We have now added an afternoon PREK class. It will be on Wednesdays for the rest of February and then it will change to Thursdays beginning in March. The numbers have already changed since I posted this image, so there are only 2 spots left in the Wednesday and Thursday classes and 1 spot left in the Tuesday morning class. If you want to grab those spots, do it quickly so you don't miss out!

New Space!

Wednesday, January 26, 2022 by Tricia Hexter | Uncategorized

For those of you that have been around for awhile, you know that I have taken over the building behind me this past summer. If you are new here, well, you are just in time! Construction has gone a bit slower than I hoped, but we are finally close to the end of the project. It's somewhat usable right now with a temporary furniture set-up, but the kids have been super excited to go learn back there! Opening up this new space will allow GPI4L to expand it's offerings to include birthday parties, special events, art classes, group sessions, yoga, and more! The sky is really the limit! If there is something you wish to see in the offerings, please send an email to gpinstituteforlearning@gmail.com. We would love to hear your suggestions!

Right now we are currently running a variety of offerings, including group and private sessions. We have pre-k through high school offerings. Orton-Gillingham, math, Spelling/Phonics, ACT/SAT Prep, College Essay Writing, Handwriting Without Tears, and more! Beyond core content, we are excited to be offering My Worried Mind to start addressing the anxiety and stress our students are feeling. We are currently working on a partnership with another local company called Healthspan to be able to offer our students a session in the Somadome. Stay tuned for discounts and information about this! It's really exciting!

Our staff is growing, our offerings are growing, our space is growing, and our students are growing! We are so proud of the work we do and strive to continue to deepen our roots in this community. It is our pleasure to serve you and we look forward to sharing our news with you! Take a small peek into the first floor of our new space! I will post more pictures as we set up the space more permanently!

New Class for Grades 6th-8th!

Tuesday, December 7, 2021 by Tricia Hexter | Uncategorized

We are so excited to announce the much needed class called MY WORRIED MIND. It is normal to feel worried.  We all have worries about things that have happened or will happen.  It is important to know what our worries are and recognize the signs and feelings that come with worry and anxiety.  In this class, through writing, drawing, stories and conversation,  students will learn how to recognize the worry, how it feels and the response that comes with it.  Students will learn how to respond to the worry to feel empowered and resilient.  Students will be exposed to tools for managing worry and come away with a visual toolbox representation of their own worry warrior tools.

When: Wednesdays, 1/5, 1/12, 1/19, and 1/26

Where: GPI4L 18164 Mack Ave, GP

How Much: $240 ($60 per session)

Who: This course is taught by Aimee Miller. She is a Behavioral Therapist who has a Master's in Trauma and Resiliency along with a BA in education with a major in Emotional Impairment. She has also done graduate work in behavior intervention in autism.

For: Any student in grades 6th-8th.

*Additional classes will be added based on demand. This class will be limited to 8 students. If you are interested in this class, but your student is not in 6-8th grade, please send us an email at gpinstituteforlearning@gmail.com with the grade level you are interested in having this class for. We do plan to add classes for upper elementary (3rd-5th) and high school (9th-12th).

*Classes will continue in February based on demand.
