New ONLINE OG for Summer Travel!

Sunday, June 8, 2025 by Tricia Hexter | Uncategorized

We are thrilled to be able to accomodate families who have students looking for consistency this summer using the Orton-Gillingham approach, but will be traveling and not able to make in to GPI4L! This summer we are launching our GPI4L OG on the Go option. The instructor is incredibly well versed in online instruction and keeping students engaged in either a 30 or 45 minute session depending on their age. Here is a little bit about the instructor, Chrissy Murphy.

Chrissy is a Certified Structured Literacy Dyslexia Interventionist (C-SLDI), credentialed by the Center for Effective Reading Instruction (CERI) in partnership with the International Dyslexia Association. She received her training through Bowman’s Orton-Gillingham “Plus.” After a 26-year career as a NICU nurse, Chrissy was inspired by her own sons’ success with structured literacy to shift her focus entirely to helping children with dyslexia and those who struggle with reading. As both a professional and a parent of children with dyslexia, she brings a unique blend of expertise, empathy, and firsthand experience to her work. Chrissy is a passionate advocate for literacy for all. She co-founded the Decoding Dyslexia Howard County Chapter in Maryland and has actively lobbied for evidence-based reading instruction and teacher training at both the local and state levels. When she’s not supporting students and families, Chrissy enjoys camping with her husband and sons, cheering at swim meets, and getting lost in a good book.

If you have questions or would like to speak to Chrissy, please email us and she will get back to you with any questions you may have or schedule a call with her to discuss any questions or concerns. She has limited availability.

Welcome to GPI4L!

Thursday, June 5, 2025 by Tricia Hexter | Uncategorized

Hello! My name is Niccole Tiffany and I am so excited to become a part of the GPI4L community! My family and I recently moved to Grosse Pointe Park from Pebble Beach, CA to be close to family. I got my BA in Cultural Anthropology from UCLA, my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from Cal Poly Humboldt, and worked on my Masters in Multicultural Education at CSUMB in Monterey, CA.

For the first 7 years of my career, I was a 4th grade, PE, and Visual and Performing Arts teacher while also running the Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program for Gonzales Unified SD. I then worked as the lead teacher, instructional coach, and coordinator of the GATE program for Carmel Unified for 5 years. After moving to 5th grade for 9 years. I left the classroom in 2021 to become the Content Development Manager for Teachers' Curriculum Institute (TCI), a K-12 Social Studies and K-8 Science curriculum company. I have tutored students from grades K-10 during the last 4 years. I currently hold both a CA and MI teaching credential.

I am a lifelong learner who has a passion for teaching reading, math, writing, engineering, and STEM to children of all ages. When I'm not working, I love reading books and cheering for the Tigers and Red Wings with my husband, two teenagers, and our dog, Jordy.
